Beardtongue is an excellent expanding perennial for sunny mixed borders or tucked in amongst other flowers. 'Dark Towers' is characterized by tall wands of tubular, two-lipped pinkish flowers that sit above purple-black colored leaves on dark red stems. Flowers eventually give way to red seed heads that add interest and texture after the blooming period. Beardtongue readily attracts butterflies and other pollinators and is considered deer resistant. Site them in average, well-drained soils in full sun for best growth. Drought tolerant and no major insect/disease issues.
