Goldenrod adds a spark of color to the autumn landscape and 'Fireworks' is an outstanding cultivar of the classic North American native. It is identified by its narrow dark green leaves on stocky stems but is at its best in early fall when it explodes into long, arching stems of golden flowers that attract butterflies and other pollinators. It rarely needs staking, and unlike its cousins, does not spread but rather forms tight clumps in the perennial border. Goldenrod does best in full sun to part shade in average, well-drained soils although it is quite tolerant to drought and clay. Deer resistant and realtively insect/disease resistant.
