Japanese forest grass is the perfect grass for shade, mixed amongst hostas and coral bells as a ground cover or as a specimen plant. 'All Gold' just seems to glow in the shade; staying compact and showing off its golden yellow, bamboo-like leaves. It prefers a moist soil and slowly grows bigger in consecutive years. Japanese forest grass has some deer resistance and can be planted around black walnuts.
