Japanese snowbells are amazing ornamental trees that fit perfectly near a patio where their fragrant flowers can be enjoyed. Snowbells bloom in late spring/early summer with drooping, fragrant, white flowers on horizontal branches. The small elliptical leaves are a handsome shade of green throughout the growing season before changing to reds and/or yellows in the fall. The flowers change into brownish-green olive-like fruits by autumn as well. Gray fissured bark can also add winter interest. Snowbells do best in rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Little to no disease or insect issues.
