Colorado blue spruce are sought after trees/shrubs due in part because of their blue hue and winter interest. This Rocky Mountain native is recognized by its stiff, short silver-blue needles that surround the branches. Blue spruce prefer acidic, well-drained soils in full sun, however they will tolerate periods of drought and some light shade if good growing conditions are met. They will do best if soils are allowed to be consistently moist, provided water drains freely. Cooler climates often produce bluer needles. 'Globosa' is a grafted blue spruce with intense blue-silver needles year round and a short, rounded form that flattens out at the top.
