'Fanal' astilbe is the perfect thing to brighten up an area of the shade garden. It has delicate plumes of vibrant scarlet flowers that make excellent cut flowers and blooms as hostas start dominating the landscape. Compound leaves grow together in a mounding habit and emerge bronze in color before turning dark green (sometimes with red tints) for the rest of the growing season. It prefers moist, well drained soils and benefits from partial shade through the day, even tolerating deep shade. It is deer and rabbit resistant and very low maintenance. Stunning when massed together in full bloom.
