'Washington' astilbe is the perfect thing to lighten up an area of the shade garden. It has delicate plumes of white flowers that make excellent cut flowers and blooms just before hostas start dominating the landscape. Compound leaves grow together in a mounding habit and stay dark green throughout the growing season. It prefers moist, well drained soils and benefits from partial shade through the day, even tolerating deep shade. It is deer and rabbit resistant and very low maintenance. Stunning when massed together in full bloom.
