Bugleweed makes a fantastic groundcover for areas that are either full sun or full shade. 'Black Scallop' forms a thick, carpet like mass of burgundy-green foliage with scalloped edges and in late spring is adorned with tall towers of violet-colored flowers. Bugleweed can be aggressive, however it is perfect for areas where grass won't grow, problematic areas due to erosion, or simply as an ornamental ground cover for beds or in between pavers. It prefers an average well drained soil and is deer and rabbit resistant. 'Black Scallop' also has great powdery mildew resistance.
