Chinese juniper thrives in drought conditions or other equally dry sites. It is discernible by its dark green scale-like foliage that covers the stems and remains attractive throughout the year. Brown bark can be seen amidst the foliage in strips adding texture and color and blue berries mature through the summer. Junipers do best in average, well-drained soils in full sun, although they will tolerate clay, urban conditions, and rocky, dry soils. They are intolerant of wet conditions. 'Fairview' also shows great resistance to cedar apple rust disease. Also sometimes sold as 'Hetzii Columnaris'.
