Shasta daisies are a mainstay in the cutting garden and provide garden color for months in the heat of the summer. These cheery plants prefer full sun in well-drained soils; they do not like wet feet. Plants are recognized by their toothed, semi-glossy dark green, ovate leaves and their white ray flowers with yellow centers. Shasta daisies have few insect or disease problems and are usually covered in butterflies and other pollinators during bloom. These make an excellent cut flower and last a long time in a vase. 'Ice Cream Dream' is a dwarf variety that has intense yellow buds that open cream and expand to be near white, fully double, pom-pom-like flowers with small yellow centers. The flowers are 2½-3" wide and totally cover the compact habit of dark green foliage.
