This bold, medium-green grass bears feathery stalks that emerge tinted pink in late spring/early summer and then turn golden in fall. Blooms 2-3 weeks earlier than common feather reed grass and tolerates multiple growing conditions including drought, wet soils, air pollution and when growing around black walnuts. Plant in mass or as a specimen. Seed heads left on the plant in winter add interest to the landscape. 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year.
