Flowering plums are appreciated for their colorful displays throughout the different seasons and make good accent plants in the landscape. ‘Thundercloud’ has small, fragrant, pink flowers that appear in early spring and cover the rounded canopy. Foliage is a rich, glossy burgundy-purple in color that emerges red and lasts into fall before obtaining redder hues. Small, red fruits can be found in autumn and make a great source of food for birds. Flowering plums have their best growth in well-drained loams in full sun and benefit from a layer of mulch.
