This sedge adds great texture and chartreuse color to gardens and is often used as a naturalizing water plant or as an accent in rain gardens. Palm sedge prefers moist/wet sites and is often found around water or in flood plains in its natural habitat. Plants are known for their palm-like, chartreuse "fronds" which will turn yellow after frost. Insignificant yellow flowers appear in spring and can last until the summer. Palm sedge multiplies slowly from rhizomes and can reseed. No major insect or disease issues.
Carex muskingumensis is an Iowa native.
