Seven-son flower has it all - fragrant flowers, fall color, winter interest, and supports pollinators. Covered in glossy, medium-green leaves throughout the growing season, the show doesn't really start until September. Flattened clusters of fragrant (clove-scented) white flowers appear on terminal panicles made up of seven sections (hence the name). After flowering, showy, vivid red sepals appear and give the illusion that the plant is a blaze while the leaves turn varying hues of yellow. Seven-son flower also has exfoliating bark that adds interest and texture to the winter landscape. Plants do best in average, well-drained soils in full sun but will tolerate a wide range of soils. No major insect or disease issues. An excellent late-season source of nectar for pollinators alike.
