Solomon's seal is a perennial that every gardener needs in the landscape. Slightly arching, slender stalks of variegated leaves emerge in spring and line the central stem before turning yellow in autumn. White hanging tubular flowers appear in spring in pairs along the bottom of the main stalk. Flowers can have a mild sweet fragrance and make great cut flowers. Solomon's seal does best in moist, well-drained soils in part to full shade and benefits from a good layer of mulch. Spreads slowly to form colonies. Perennial Plant of the Year in 2013.
