The Miyabe State Street™ maple has gained popularity since its introduction in 1988 because of its durability and adaptability. Insignificant chartreuse flowers appear in early spring which eventually lead to almost horizontal samaras. Medium green, five-lobed leaves are found on the tree through much of the growing season before turning a rich yellow in autumn. State Street™ tolerates a wide range of growing conditions, including: urban conditions (excellent street tree), wet sites, clay soils, and some droughty conditions. It is also prized for its attractive bark; corky grayish brown bark that has orange/brown fissures in it with age. Insect and disease resistant.
