Threadleaf coreopsis is a favorite for Midwest gardens because of its length of bloom, airiness, and vigor. Plants thrive on neglect and are at home in poor soils; tolerating drought, heat, and humidity. 'Scarlet Ribbons' has intense, velvety red daisy-like flowers that cover the plants through the summer like a mist and are held above thread-like dark green foliage. Coreopsis is virtually disease and insect resistant and is not palatable to deer. Looks best when massed or left to naturalize and makes great accent plants for the rock garden. 'Scarlet Ribbons' is also supposed to have good mildew resistance.
