Doublefile viburnums are one of the best viburnums for beautiful blooms. The pure white blossoms of 'Summer Snowflake' are found on the outside of the flower clusters in a ring and, being flat, are rather reminiscent of snowflakes. The main flowerting period is in early spring, but will continue sporadically until frost. Ovate leaves are dark green and pleated - turning shades of burgundy and purple in the fall and often show off the bright red fruit that develops around the same time. Branches are tiered and horizontal which lives up to the nickname "doublefile". Plants have no insect or disease problems and do best in well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Doublfile viburnum will benefit from a layer of mulch to keep soil moisture even.
