Balloon flowers are named for their swollen buds that seem inflated like balloons, and if pressed together, often pop like one too. The upward-facing bell flowers add a touch of bold color to the summer landscape in shades of blue-purple and the dark blue-green leaves turn an attractive yellow in the fall. Balloon flowers do best in average, well-drained loamy soils in full sun to part shade and are considered disease/insect resistant. 'Sentimental Blue' is a prolific bloomer and will set many flower buds.
