Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'
Exposure: Full sun
Bloom Time/Color: July-July; purple/green
Uses: Groundcover, massing, specimen
Blue fescue are highly sought after grasses for their intense powder blue color and ability to withstand drought and neglect. 'Elijah Blue' is characterized by a mounded tuft of porcupine-like narrow blades in shades of blue. Purplish-green seed heads arise out of the center in summer and fade to beige/tan. Blue fescue prefers dry to moist, well-drained soils in full sun. If growing conditions are met, they can tolerate light shade, drought, and poor soils. Does best in cooler climates.
