Blue fescue are highly sought after grasses for their intense powder blue color and ability to withstand drought and neglect. 'Blue Whiskers' is taller and more vigorous than 'Elijah Blue'. It has longer leaves and a brighter blue color, but maintains its mounded tuft of porcupine-like blades. Yellow-green flowers appear at the tips of the leaves in a lovely uniform shape and then fade to tan. Blue fescue prefers dry to moist, well-drained soils in full sun. If growing conditions are met, they can tolerate light shade, drought, and poor soils. Does best in cooler climates.
