Coralberries are grown primarily for their aesthetic values and durability in the landscape. They are characterized by arching stems that are covered in small, pale pink bell-shaped flowers in summer, bluish-green oval leaves throughout the growing season, and finally bright bubble gum-pink berries in autumn and winter. Berry stems make excellent cut flowers for arrangements. Coralberries do best in average, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade and can withstand drought, deer, clay soils, erosion, and some urban conditions. Coralberries can form colonies via suckers and thus are great plants for naturalizing. No major insect or disease issues. Candy Coralberry offers plump, candy-pink berries that ripen in early fall as the last of summer’s small pink flowers swell into pearls.
