Shasta daisies are a mainstay in the cutting garden and provide garden color for months in the heat of the summer. These cheery plants prefer full sun in well-drained soils; they do not like wet feet. Plants are recognized by their toothed, semi-glossy dark green, ovate leaves and their white ray flowers with yellow centers. Shasta daisies have few insect or disease problems and are usually covered in butterflies and other pollinators during bloom. These make an excellent cut flower and last a long time in a vase. 'Snowcap' tolerates weather better than other shasta daisies and is prized for its compact, dense habit, long bloom period, and strong stems.
