Deutzia are small, rounded shrubs that look best when massed. They are cultivated for their tiny, bell-shaped, fragrant white flowers that cover the arching stems for about two weeks in spring. Chardonnay Pearls® was named for the pearl like buds that appear before bloom. For the entirety of the growing season, the shrubs are covered in elliptical, chartreuse, toothed leaves and look excellent when sited next to darker colored foliage plants. Deutzia prefer moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade but will tolerate a myriad of soils and some periods of drought.
