Mugo pines make an excellent specimen plant for rock gardens or for dry and droughty soils. Sage-green colored needles cover this dense, spreading pine on branches that grow vertically. They do best sited in moist, well-drained loamy soils, but are quite adaptable and tolerate drought, dry/chalky soils, urban conditions, and clay soils povided they drain freely. An excellent choice for winter texture and interest.
