Mugo pines make an excellent specimen plant for rock gardens or for dry and droughty soils. Sage-green colored needles cover this dense, mounding pine on branches that grow vertically. They do best sited in moist, well-drained loamy soils, but are quite adaptable and tolerate drought, dry/chalky soils, urban conditions, and clay soils povided they drain freely. An excellent choice for winter texture and interest. 'Valley Cushion' has a very dwarf habit when compared to other mugo pines.
