'Mount Airy' fothergilla is valued for its multi-season interest; fragrant flowers in the spring, leathery medium green foliage in the summer, and a varied vibrant fall color. It is adorned in feathery, tower-like blooms in cream colored tones and smell like honey. By autumn, it turns varying shades of orange, yellow, and red/purple. It prefers moist, acidic soils in full sun or part shade, however it is tolerant of some drought and alkalinity. Fothergilla is a good choice for hedges or massing and is virtually disease and insect resistant.
