Little-leaf lindens are very popular trees and are recognizable in the landscape by their pyramidal shape. They tolerate most urban conditions and heavy pruning, making them a prime option for street/park trees or hedges. Well suited for drought conditions; preference however is to full sun in well-drained, loamy soils. Little-leaf lindens have small, heart-shaped, shiny dark green leaves throughout the growing season. In summer, small, fragrant pale yellow flowers appear and by autumn turn into attractive nutlets. Fall color can be a clear yellow. 'Greenspire' is a very pyramidal variety with a strong central leader and smaller habit than the species. Prone to Japanese beetles.
