Gayfeather is an excellent perennial plant that all gardeners should have because of its adaptability, durability, and ornamental value. Plants create basal tufts of narrow, medium green leaves that give rise to long wands of deep purple flowers in midsummer that bloom from the top, down. It does best sited in full sun in areas where moisture is even and soils are well drained. Makes an excellent cut or dried flower and attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Deer, insect, and disease resistant.
