Miscanthus sinensis 'Little Zebra'

Height: 3-4ft
Spread: 2-3ft
Zone: 5-9
Exposure: Full sun to part shade
Bloom Time/Color: August-October; burgundy
Uses: Specimen, massing, borders

A compact version of the common 'Zebrinus' cultivar, 'Little Zebra' has horizontal bands of chartreuse/yellow on the blades and is perfect in front of taller perennials and shrubs. Plumes arise in late summer in shades of burgundy that are striking against the variegated foliage. Zebra grass is tolerant of a wide array of soils (clay, drought, sandy, etc.) though it prefers to stay more moist. Can provide winter interest in the landscape if plants are not cut back until spring.
