Stonecrop is one of the best plants for xeriscaping or water-wise gardens in part due to their succulent-like nature. They thrive in the heat and full sun and don't mind being on the drier side too. In the heat of the summer, 'Firecracker' cools down landscapes with tiny masses of pink star-like flowers that cover the deep purple foliage until fall. Stonecrop does best in well-drained soils and can even be planted between rocks, pavers, and other small areas where other perennials may otherwise grow. They are also relatively disease/insect resistant and rabbits and deer tend to avoid them.
