Lady's mantle is an excellent perennial that is versatile in the landscape and adds a touch of texture and greenery to spaces. It is characterized by soft, hairy, scalloped-circular green leaves that almost look pleated. Water collects in beads on the foliage when water is splashed onto it to give the plant a beautiful, dewy effect. By late spring, numerous chartreuse flowers emerge above the foliage in dense looking sprays that make excellent additions to mixed bouquets or arrangements. Plant lady's mantle in average, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade (afternoon shade is preferred in Iowa). Plants do best if ample moisture is provided and leaves can scorch in full sun if this is not met. Overall, this is a wonderful perennial for massing or edging in landscapes that is also deer, rabbit, disease, and insect resistant.
