'Sun King' Japanese spikenard adds an amazing pop of chartreuse color to the back of the shade garden. It provides great texture due in part to its coumpound leaves and reaches tall heights quickly in one growing season. It looks great with all foliage colors - meaning it blends well with hostas, coral bells, soloman's seal, and many other shade perennials. Small spikes of white flowers may appear in summer but are often overlooked. Spikenard prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils in part shade, though they tolerate a wide range of soils. Little to no disease or insect issues and is deer resistant. 2020 Perennial Plant of the Year.
