Trailing or creeping juniper is an excellent evergreen groundcover for rock walls, or other fast-draining, dry, forgotten soils. Plants rarely get taller than a foot and stems spread out horizontally, often cascading over edges and in between rocks. The silvery blue-green, scale-like foliage covers the stems throughout the growing season before changing to colors of purple, bronze, and plum in autumn. Trailing junipers do best in average, well-drained soils in full sun. They are intolerant of wet conditions. Compact Andorra trailing juniper was selected for its dense habit.
