Scarlet Letter™ oak was selected for its fall color and growth habit. It is a very dense, columnar/narrow tree that prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun, however it tolerates a wide array of growing conditions, including drought, soil pH, and clay. Dark green, lobed leaves cover the canopy through the growing season before maturing into a rusty-red fall color, alongside oval acorns. When compared to other oaks, Scarlet Letter™ boasts a faster growth rate, excellent use as a natural screen, reliable cold hardiness, and resistance to storm and winter damage. Leaves may persist through winter.
