Japanese maples are all the rage in part due to its intense red/purple coloring. These make excellent specimen or accent trees in a protected site, such as, up against a house or in the understory of a treeline. The foliage of 'Autumn Moon' has varying shades of gold, orange, and chartreuse throughout the growing season and makes dappled shade due to the small, five-pointed leaves. Trees are ablaze in the fall in shades of scarlet and gold. Japanese maples prefer moist, well drained soils in slightly acidic environments. For architectural interest, multi-stemmed trees can be found. Rabbit resistant.
